Meet Sophie, a regular Kuristo reader since September 2025, who combines a passion for running, choir singing, and a demanding yet fascinating career. Between forests, personal challenges, and trail running dreams, she shares her journey, her motivations, and her favorite things.
How long have you been a member of the club?
Since the beginning of September 2025, like the start of a new school year… I decided to motivate myself to run more regularly, and to join a club.
Are you an occasional, regular, or dedicated practitioner?
I would say that I'm a pretty regular practitioner when I'm in Brussels. If I'm not training, it's because I'm out and about.
Have you always been athletic?
Yes: tennis, hiking, skiing, swimming, cycling, jogging… but more in “occasional” mode.
How did you get into running? And into Kuristo?
I was motivated by friends with whom I've been running regularly for about ten years. I looked for a club near my home with times that suited me: I found Kuristo.
What is your most memorable race or training experience?
The first training session with Kuristo in the forest: I really wondered what I was doing there in the middle of all those determined runners!?!
Do you prefer trail running or urban running?
Nature races, and I'd like to try trail running.
What are your hobbies outside of racing?
I sing in a choir.
What's your favorite workout?
Tuesday in the forest, but having tried a few Thursdays on the track, I think it's great too.
The race you don't want to miss?
Racing against the clock to arrive on time for training ;-)
What's your goal for the year?
Coming regularly on Tuesdays is already great for me! And if I can improve, that's even better.
Your ultimate dream?
I'd love to do a trail run every weekend, but for that I'd have to change jobs.
What's your job?
Anesthetist: a somewhat mysterious, fascinating, but very demanding and tiring profession.
A film or series that made a lasting impression on you?
"Hidden Figures," the struggle and tenacity of women facing racial segregation.
A book you recommend?
"Looking After Her" by Jean-Baptiste Andrea. A novel blending art, self-transcendence, a mysterious love story, and very well written.
The dream place where you would like to live?
At the foot of a mountain, on a hillside that is often sunny, and somewhat isolated to ensure peace and quiet.
What's your favorite dish?
A delicious lentil and vegetable curry dish. I'm increasingly enjoying vegetarian cuisine.
